New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said former AAP leader Kailash Gahlot, who joined the BJP, could go ‘ wherever he wants’.
‘He is free; he can go wherever he wants,’ keriwal was quoted as saying.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi reportedly accepted the resignation of Gahlot from the council of ministers.
The MLA for Najafgarh in his letter to Kejriwal on Sunday cited ‘unfulfilled promises and recent controversies’ as the reasons for his resignation.
Gahlot pointed out that the AAP did not fulfil the promise of cleaning the Yamuna River that the party had made to the voters.
‘We promised the people a cleaner Yamuna, but we have failed to deliver on that commitment,’ he was quoted as saying.
Pointing to the controversy surrounding Arvind Kejriwal’s new official residence, he said: ‘There are several embarrassing and bizarre issues like Sheeshmahal, which have now led people to question whether we still believe in being the party of the common man’.
Senior AAP leader Durgesh Pathak claimed that Gahlot resigned as he could not withstand pressure of having been questioned by the Central agencies such as the ED and Income Tax Department for several months.
