Ex-Congress chief of Delhi Arvinder Singh Lovely joins BJP

New Delhi: Former Congress chief in Delhi Arvinder Singh Lovely joined the BJP on Saturday, days after he left Congress. He left Congress citing the party’s alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He reasoned that despite AAP accusing Congress of corruption, they allied with them, The Times of India (TOI) reported.

Joining BJP, Lovely said that he had been given an opportunity to fight for the people of Delhi under the banner of BJP and leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He claimed that he has full hope and there is no doubt that in BJP forming government at the Centre with an overwhelming majority and the saffron party’s flag will fly in Delhi too, in the coming days.

Lovely continued that Indira Gandhi promised every drop of her blood to the nation but now Congress has been reduced to Tukde Tukde gang. He said he started to feel that he is a misfit in the party and resigned from the post of Delhio Congress President. He claimed that he met all his colleagues and thousands of Congress workers after he quit the party and they advised him to continue to fight for Delhi people and the country.

Lovely, who was appointed as Congress chief last year, replacing Ani Chaudhary, had joined BJP in 2017 and had returned to Congress later.

He joined BJP in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and BJP’s national general secretary Vinod Tawde. Some more Congress leaders, including a cabinet minister in Delhi government, Raj Kumar Chauhan, joined BJP.
