Delhi minister Satyendar Jain of Aam Aadmi Party, who is currently doing time in Tihar Jail after being arrested in money laundering case, told a trial court that he had lost around 28 kg after having not eaten "proper" food.
Meanwhile, a video of him surfaced that allegedly showed him getting a masseur's help in the jail; however the minister denied receiving any special treatment or violating any prison rules, according to a report by NDTV.
Senior Advocate Rahul Mehra appearing for the minister alleged that the Enforcement Directorate was leaking sensitive information to the media despite court orders; obviously he was referring to the leakage of footage showing the minister getting a massage session from an under trial in the jail.
The court listed the matter for November 28 for detailed arguments.
"I am defamed every single minute by their act," the lawyer was quoted as speaking for Jain in the court, according to NDTV.
The minister told the court through his lawyer that all he was seeking a " fair and free trial', and added that even Ajmal Kasab, the Pakistani terrorist who was hanged for 26/11 Mumbai attack, got a free and fair trial.
Questioning the alleged privilege, he said he had lost 28 kg in jail as he was not even getting proper food. The minister also refused violating any prison rules by having an undertrial pressing his " hand or feet".
AAP, responding to the viral video of Jain getting massage, said that 'physiotherapy sessions" were mandated as part of the minister's treatment.
The AAP however went on accusing the BJP of misusing the central agency ED to keep Jain in jail.
