Bengaluru: Election officials were seen intercepting and searching Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s car on Friday. He was on his way to Ghati Subramanya temple in Chikkaballapura. The incident took place at the Hosahudya checkpost.
The state is all set to go to polls on May 10.
ANI tweeted a video of the incident which went viral on social media. "Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai's car was checked by the Flying Squad team of the Election Commission as he was on his way to Sri Ghati Subramanya Temple in Doddaballapur. Model Code of Conduct is enforced in the State in view of the May 10 Assembly elections."
He was in a private car. His official vehicle was surrendered on Wednesday after the election schedule was announced.
Sources said that nothing objectionable was found in the car and the vehicle was let go. "The Chief Minister continued his journey."
