Election Commission halts Karnataka government ads in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Election Commission has put a stop to the advertisements of Karnataka's Congress government in Telangana newspapers ahead of the impending assembly polls in the state.

This decision came as a response to a complaint lodged by the BJP, which is striving to establish a foothold in the region.

The BJP, in its complaint, alleged that Congress was utilising public funds inappropriately to sway the outcomes of the elections. The BJP, which has formed an alliance with actor-politician Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena, raised concerns about the purported misuse of resources.

Notably, the Congress emerged victorious in the assembly elections held earlier this year in Karnataka, displacing the BJP from its governance in the sole southern state it governed.

Telangana is slated for elections on Thursday, and the results will be tabulated on Sunday, December 3, coinciding with the vote counts from four other states.
