Egg prices crash in Hyderabad as Iran-Israel-US war stalls West Asia exports

Hyderabad: Egg prices in Hyderabad have plunged over the past three days due to export halts from the Iran-Israel-US war, causing oversupply in local markets.

Disruptions at West Asian ports and airports—triggered by security fears and blocked shipping routes—have frozen chicken egg shipments from India. Eggs earmarked for international buyers now flood city markets, slashing rates sharply.

The National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) prices dipped to Rs 4.20 per egg, with some spots at Rs 3.30—far steeper than the usual summer dip, poultry farmers say. The industry warns of heavy losses amid crippled logistics to the region.

The week-long escalation, with missile strikes killing over 1,200 in Iran and dozens in Lebanon/Israel, has spiked oil prices, slowed Strait of Hormuz traffic, and rattled global trade.
