Mumbai: The Enforcement Department's summons on him is a "conspiracy", Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said on Monday and added that he would not resort to the "Guwahati route" taken by the Sena rebel MLAs even if he is killed, PTI reported.
ED, through its summons, asked Raut to appear before the probe agency for questioning on Tuesday in a money laundering case related to the re-development of a Mumbai' Chawl', officials informed.
Raut tweeted, "I just got to know that the ED has sent me a notice. Major developments are taking place in Maharashtra. We all are Shiv Sainiks of (Sena founder) Balasaheb. This is a conspiracy. Even if I am beheaded, I will not take the Guwahati route," in Marathi, tagging BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis.
Further, he challenged the ED to arrest him.
The ED summons comes when a rebellion by a majority of Sena MLAs cripples the party as well as the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by the party in Maharashtra. The rebel MLAs are camping in Assam's Guwahati.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Raut's brother MLA Sunil Raut claimed that the ED summons intends to scare his brother since he has been opposing the BJP.
