ED summons Mahua Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani in FEMA case

Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued fresh summons to Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani in connection with a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) contravention case.

They have been directed to appear before the probe agency on March 28.

According to reports from PTI, the ED is investigating transactions related to a non-resident external (NRE) account as part of this case, in addition to examining various foreign remittances and fund transfers.

Moitra, who was expelled from the Lok Sabha in December due to "unethical conduct," has been nominated by the TMC to contest from West Bengal's Krishnanagar seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) recently conducted raids at her premises in connection with the cash-for-query case. This action followed Lokpal's directive to the CBI to probe allegations made against her by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.
