A 32-year-old man from Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh, who attempted self-surgery for persistent stomach pain using techniques learned from online videos, is reportedly recovering at home after receiving medical intervention.
The man had used surgical blades, stitch cords, and needles purchased from the market to cut and stitch his abdomen, but his condition deteriorated, prompting his nephew to rush him to a hospital for emergency care.
Medical professionals examined the injuries and found that only the upper layer of the abdomen had been cut, sparing internal organs from severe damage, though the risk of infection and other complications remained high. The man was admitted to the Joint District Hospital of Vrindavan, where doctors provided necessary treatment and stabilised his condition before discharging him.
The incident has raised concerns among healthcare experts, who warn against self-medication and unregulated medical practices learned from the internet, as such actions can lead to infections, excessive bleeding, or life-threatening consequences.
