Discrimination against Dalit student during meals; UP principal charged

An FIR has been registered against the school principal of a primary school in Amethi under relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for allegedly queueing up Dalit students separately when the mid-day meal was being served.

The complaint against Kusum Soni initially reached the District Magistrate, who then ordered a probe by Basic Siksha Adhikari (BSA). The complaint alleged that Soni discriminated against children based on their caste by queueing them separately during mealtime. The BSA has suspended Soni, and a detailed probe is underway.
