Discrepancies in NEET UG 2024, aspirants, parents demand exam cancellation

New Delhi: Many medical applicants and their families have expressed numerous grievances, alleging inconsistencies, and even suggesting that question papers were leaked in response to the recently released National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) results.

After the exam results were released on June 4, some candidates demanded that it be cancelled, according to The Indian Express.

Concerns about 67 students receiving a perfect score of 720/720 have been voiced by the aspirants' parents, the Wire reported.

According to The Times of India, the parents have claimed that seven of the students who received full marks had seat numbers from the same sequence and are from Haryana, which doesn't rule out the possibility that they are from the same centre.

“NTA received few representations and court cases from candidates of NEET (UG) 2024 raising concerns of loss of time during the conduct of the examination on 05.05.2024,” the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the examination, said in a statement.

The NTA noted that in such circumstances, a normalisation formula devised by the Supreme Court was used, and applicants who lost time in the exam were compensated with grace marks.

“In 2023, only two students had scored 720/720. Whereas a year before that in 2022, nobody had a perfect score. In fact, the highest score was 715/720 in 2022. And this year, there are so many students with perfect scores,” one of the parents Brijesh Sutaria, who is also a guide for medical admissions, told The Indian Express.
