Delhi school blast: anti-terror agency at spot, white powder found

New Delhi: A loud explosion occurred near a CRPF school in New Delhi's Rohini on Sunday, causing damages to multiple shops and structures, India Today reported.

Footage showed smoke rising near the school in Prashant Vihar locality, however no casualties or injuries have been reported.

Security agencies including police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have responded to the incident.

In another footage a loud explosion can be heard from around the school’s wall alongside windows of vehicles in the vicinity were seen shattered in the impact.

Police reportedly found a white powder-like substance near the wall of the school.

A team of NIA officials reached the spot to find out if there were any terrorist links to the blast.

Meanwhile, NSG commandos reached the spot just as heavy police has been deployed and sniffer dogs are at work to find evidence.

Investigators are combing social media platforms including telegram for clues regarding the blast.

A team of Forensic Science Laboratory has collected samples from the spot to ascertain how the blast was carried out.

‘The only possibilities which we think of are a cylinder blast or a building collapse. There was a big cloud of smoke here which stayed for a good 10 minutes. The glass of the shops here has broken, and the hoardings have been displaced,’ an eyewitness reportedly said.

The investigation is underway to find out the exact cause behind the explosion.
