New Delhi: An IPL betting racket was busted in Chander Vihar, Phase-III, Nihal Vihar by Delhi Police on Sunday. Police arrested six people who were in the racket, Asian News International reported.
Police said that they acted on information by Special staff on May 15. A team of police reached the spot, accompanied by the informer, and raided the building to catch the arrested six who were engaged in gambling on IPL matches. They had laptops and other electric devices with them, the police said.
Police had recovered Rs 74,740 in cash, 10 Mobile phones, two laptops, three internet routers, two LED TVs, voice recorders, call merger microphones, two Notebooks (having a record of gambling) and one suitcase carrying a gambling device with five mobile phones attached to it. The arrestees were charged with sections 3, 4, 9 and 55 of the Gambling Act at the PS Nihal Vihar in Delhi.
Policed added that further investigation on the matter is going on.
