New Delhi: The Delhi High Court today rejected the bail plea of E Abubacker, the former Chairman of the banned organization Popular Front of India, who appealed for his release from jail and place him under house arrest on account of his medical condition.
Abubacker stated in his bail plea that he is suffering from multiple ailments including a rare type of oesophagus cancer, Parkinson's disease, hypertension, diabetes and loss of vision, the High Court said that the court would ensure he is getting necessary health care in prison.
The Court said it would ensure the accused is getting necessary medical care in prison.
E Abubacker has been in the National Investigation Agency's custody since September after a ban imposed on PFI by the Central government under the UAPA Act.
The Court considered the NIA-submitted report objecting to the bail over the reports presented by Abubacker's counsel related to his illness. The Court said it could not consider Abubacker's request at this time but promised necessary medical treatment at the jail.
The court also ordered the Medical superintendent to submit a report on Abubacker's health, besides allowing his son to be at his side when the medical check-up takes place.
