Delhi Court greenlights polygraph test for five parliament breach accused

New Delhi: A Delhi court has authorised the Delhi Police to proceed with the polygraph test for five out of the six individuals detained in connection with the Parliament security breach.

The decision was made by Additional Sessions Judge Hardeeep Kaur, who extended the police custody of all the accused by eight days.

The permission for the polygraph test was granted to Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Dhanraj Shinde, Lalit Jha, and Mahesh Kumawat after the court acknowledged their consent, excluding Neelam Azad, to undergo the test.

The court's ruling was in response to the police's plea seeking authorisation for conducting the polygraph examination on all the accused individuals.

The security breach occurred on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack when Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D breached security, entering the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during the Zero Hour. They released yellow gas and raised slogans before being subdued by the Members of Parliament.

Simultaneously, two other accused, Dhanraj Shinde and Neelam Azad, sprayed colored gas outside the Parliament premises while chanting "tanashahi nahi chalegi" ("dictatorship will not prevail").

The court's decision to permit the polygraph tests aims to further the investigation into the breach and gather more information regarding the incident.
