Daylight murder of a college student further embarrasses UP government after Atiq shootout

New Delhi: Police arrested one of the two men who came on a motorcycle and shot dead a woman in broad daylight in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district on Monday morning.

The victim, Roshni Ahirwar, a 21-year-old BA student, was returning from taking a college exam at Ram Lakhan Patel Mahavidyalaya when she was attacked at around 11 am.

The two men came on a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle and pulled out a country made pistol, before fatally shooting Ahirwar in the head.

As the locals gave chase, assailants fled the scene leaving behind the gun at the busy street just 200 metres away from the police station, according to NDTV.

A footage of the woman lying face down in a pool of the blood has gone viral rousing a barrage of criticism against the Yogi Adityanath administration.

The daylight murder of a college student contrasted with Yogi Administration’s touted hold on the law and order in the state, which is apparently vitiating.

As the footage began circulating, social media users have been highly critical of the Yogi administration with many pointing at the lawlessness.

The murder of the woman comes just two days after the dreaded gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed was shot dead by three men in Prayagraj.

Criminals are allegedly taking law into their own hands just as the administration is claiming to be performing better than its predecessors in ensuring safety.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother were killed point blank while under police security embarrassing the officials.

Sharing the footage of the woman, the Rashtriya Janata Dal leadership asked whether the BJP will celebrate this death as well, taking a dig at the celebratory reactions of the BJP on Atiq’s murder.
