A juvenile was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment on Monday after raping a 15-year-old girl in Keonjhar district in Odisha.
Subhashree Tripathi, the POCSO judge, also imposed a fine of 5,000 rupees on the convict for the crime committed on January 15, 2017.
The special court also ordered the District Legal Services Authority to compensate the rape survivor with Rs. 4 lakh.
Under the pretext of taking the teenager to a local festival, the accused raped the teenager in a secluded spot under the Bamebari police station area. A compromise meeting was arranged, but a police complaint ultimately followed.
It was decided that the juvenile would remain in the facility until he is 21 years old, and then he would be moved to a regular jail.
