Congress uses Muslims as vote banks: HD Kumaraswamy alleges

Mangaluru: Janata Dal (S) leader HD Kumaraswamy alleged that the Congress only used the Muslim community as a vote bank and never did anything concrete for their welfare, PTI reported.

Speaking at a campaign meeting of his party's Mangaluru North candidate Mohiuddin Bava at Krishnapura near Mangaluru on Sunday evening, the former chief minister of Karnataka accused the Congress of welcoming hardcore Hindu leaders into the party while charging JD(S) of having an understanding with the BJP.

Party working president B M Farooq, B A Mohiuddin Bava, party leaders Akshit Suvarna and M B Sadashiva were among those present at the event.

According to Kumaraswamy, Congress and BJP are taking undue advantage of the youth for their political advantage. The BJP-led state government announced a Billawa development corporation on the eve of elections aiming for an upper hand in the polls through Muslim votes.

He expressed his hope that the Karnataka people will repose faith in the JD(S).
