New Delhi: Congress appointed the party's former Delhi chief Jai Prakash Agarwal as the AICC in charge of Madhya Pradesh. The new appointment is to replace Mukul Wasnik, IANS reported.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) had issued a release which read, "Hon'ble Congress President has accepted the request of Mukul Wasnik to relieve him from his current responsibility as General Secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh so that he can oversee other organisational matters.'
It is learned that Agarwal will take charge of his new post with immediate effect.
The release further said, "Mukul Wasnik will continue as General Secretary, AICC. The party appreciates his contributions as in-charge of Madhya Pradesh."
However, the state will not go for Assembly elections until November next year, and the local body elections were held last July.
