Covid-19: Complete curfew in Delhi from tonight until April 26

New Delhi: As Delhi recorded the highest jump in its daily Covid cases on Sunday, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has imposed complete curfew from tonight to next Monday morning in the capital.

Delhi recorded  25,462 fresh cases in the last 24 hours and showed a positivity rate of nearly 30 per cent, pushing the city into an unprecedented public health crisis. 

Acute shortage of oxygen and hospital beds has pushed the Chief Minister  to go for a total lockdown.

Kejriwal has also written to  Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union commerce and industries minister Piyush Goyal to enhance bed capacity in the Central government-run hospitals and ensure adequate oxygen supply in the capital.

"The COVID-19 situation has become very serious in Delhi. There is a huge shortage of beds and oxygen. I request that at least 7,000 out of 10,000 beds in central government hospitals in Delhi be reserved for COVID-19 patients and oxygen be immediately provided in Delhi," he wrote in the letter to PM Modi as reported by thewire.in

Earlier, A weekend curfew was imposed on in the capital to control the virus transmission.

The new decision was reportedly taken when Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal this morning.
