Ayodhya: Despite having the Election Commission rules that religion and religious symbols shall not be used during an election campaign, it seems that the UP Chief Minster Yogi Adityanath is immune from this that he again invoked Lord Ram at an election campaign in the state where the second phase of the urban local body polls will take place on May 11.
While campaigning for BJP’s mayoral candidate Girish Pati Tripathi at Maniramdas Cantonment, Yogi urged people to elect a Ram devotee from Ayodhya in the municipal elections to leave a positive impression.
The polling for the second phase of the urban local body polls is scheduled for May 11 to elect representatives for posts across 760 local bodies in the state, with vote counting to take place on May 13.
Adityanath emphasized the collective responsibility towards Ayodhya, stating that a strong board was necessary for its overall development, as it is under the spotlight of the nation and the world. He added that when a strong board is constituted, the development would proceed quickly. He stated that UP has been successful in changing its perception in the last six years, with the saints in the state now receiving respect.
Adityanath spoke of his government's plans for Ayodhya, stating that the city would be turned into a solar city, and an international airport is being built. He also mentioned the development of waterways from Ayodhya, which would lead to the growth of tourism and other opportunities. Adityanath emphasized the importance of channelizing the water of Saryu ji, stating that it held no less water than Ganga ji.
He concluded by mentioning the success of the Deepotsav program, which had seen the participation of over 35 lakh pilgrims during Ram Navami alone and would attract more than one crore devotees when the grand temple of Lord Shri Ram was completed in January. Adityanath said that such programs take them towards Tretayug.
Adityanath urged people to associate themselves with the changing India, as the world now looks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a time of global crisis. He said that a positive vote in the upcoming urban local body polls would be a step towards the development of Ayodhya and the state of Uttar Pradesh.
