CM Vijay holds first sectoral review; school reopening top priority

Chennai: School reopening and examination preparedness were top of the agenda as Chief Minister Vijay held his first sectoral review with School Education Minister Rajmohan and senior officials at the Secretariat on Monday.

With the academic year resuming after the summer break and Class 10 results due shortly, the meeting focused on operational readiness across the School Education Department. Officials briefed the Chief Minister on logistics for the reopening, measures to ensure classroom safety and continuity, and plans to streamline result publication and related student services.

Participants also discussed a slate of initiatives the department intends to roll out in the coming months, aiming to boost administrative efficiency and strengthen implementation of existing programmes. The School Education Secretary and the Director of School Education were among senior officials who took part in the detailed consultations that followed Vijay’s meeting with ministers.

The review formed part of a wider round of administrative discussions convened after the new Vijay-led TVK government assumed office. Vijay, who took charge following a decisive assembly election win, has already met all nine ministers to outline governance priorities and expectations for prompt policy delivery and robust departmental functioning.

After the collective meeting with the Chief Minister, individual ministers conducted separate reviews with their departmental teams to assess ongoing work and identify immediate priorities. The early set of consultations is being viewed as an effort to swiftly establish the administrative framework for the new administration and ensure services are delivered effectively across sectors.
