Chirag Paswan evicted from bungalow given to Ram Vilas Paswan

The government has sent a team to 12 Janpath Road, and Chirag Paswan's belongings have been removed from the house. Chirag Paswan is the son of former Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan.

All party official events and organizational meetings have been held at the house, which has been the official address for the Lok Janshakti Party in Delhi. The party had converted his bungalow into a memorial after his death, installing a statue of him in the lawn. The Centre had prohibited the conversion of a Lutyens' bungalow into a memorial in 2000.

On Thursday, the Directorate of Estates -- one of the departments of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs -- sent the team to the bungalow at the heart of the city to serve the eviction order.

It is also noteworthy that, following the death of Ram Vilas Paswan, the party he founded split up, as differences arose between his son and brother regarding his legacy and party leadership.

Ministers and their families overstay in Lutyen's bungalows quite often.
