Chennai: Chennai Metro Rail's Blue Line, traveling between the Wimco Nagar Depot and Chennai International Airport, got stuck in a subway, leaving passengers stranded Tuesday morning.
It is reported the disruption that took place in the early hours today when the train was passing through a tunnel here, NDTV reported.
As the train got stuck between the Central Metro and High Court station, passengers on board complained of no electricity.
Footage from the subway showed commuters holding on to the handrail, peeping out to know what was happening.
Authorities in announcement asked passengers to walk to nearby metro station around 500 meters away, the High Court station.
Another video showed commuters walking through the tunnel.
The disruption is believed to have been caused by a power outage or technical glitch.
Later the Chennai Metro Rail announced on X that the services have resumed.
‘Metro train services between Airport and Wimco Nagar Depot on Blue Line have resumed normal operation. Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MG Ramachandran Central Metro to St Thomas Mount on the Green Line are also running as per the Normal Schedule,’ post said. ‘We regret the inconvenience caused,’ it added.
