Checking on Dubai-bound plane at Delhi's IGI after bomb hoax

New Delhi: Authorities reported on Tuesday that an email bomb threat was sent to a flight scheduled to take off from Delhi to Dubai.

"On Monday, at 9.35 am an email was received in DIAL office, of the IGI Airport with the threat of bomb inside Delhi to Dubai flight," a senior police officer said.

No bomb was found when the plane was checked, the officer said.

This incident is part of a worrying pattern of hoax bomb threats directed towards several Delhi institutions.

Similar threats were received by email last week by a number of Delhi-based museums, including the National Museum and Rail Museum, as well as the mental health facilities IHBAS and VIMHANS.

However, no explosive evidence was discovered at any of the places despite thorough inspections by the local authorities and bomb detection teams.
