Centre instructs north-eastern states to bar refugees from Myanmar

The home ministry has sent letters to the northeastern states asking them to stop the migrant refugee inflow from Myanmar. The letters, sent to Mizoram, Manipur, and Arunachal Assam rifles, and addressing the chief secretaries, call for a constant vigil.

Earlier Myanmar had sent a letter to Mizoram officials asking them to turn over those who have come from the country. The centre's directions soon followed.

The unrest in Myanmar began after a military coup grabbed control from Aung Sang Suu Kyi's government. The seized power now rests upon the Military chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
