New Delhi: The Union government has increased Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices by Rs 1 per kilogram, hitting the transportation sector, Asian News International reported.
The prices were effective from 6:00 a.m. on June 22, immediately impacting many areas in the country, including New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and the National Capital Region (NCR).
When Delhi saw a hike, prices went from Rs 74.09 to Rs 75.09, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad witnessed prices increase from Rs 78.70 to 79.70 per kg. However, Gurugram in Haryana did not see any change.
ANI reported that the price hike is expected to impact daily commuters who rely on CNG-powered vehicles, including auto-rickshaws, taxis, and personal vehicles.
The increase is also expected to see higher transportation costs, pushing up daily travel expenses for millions of residents.
According to ANI, this is not the first time CNG praises were hiked in recent months. There were frequent adjustments to CNG prices, which have become a concern for consumers, while there are already the economic pressures of inflation and creeping fuel costs.
The recent increase in CNG prices highlights the challenges commuters and the transportation sector face in navigating the complexities of the energy market, the ANI report suggests.
