Central and state governments should work together, says M. Venkaiah Naidu

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said the Central and state governments should work together because when the states develop, the nation will develop as a whole. He added that people in different political parties are only political rivals with different ideologies, not enemies.

He was unveiling former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President late M. Karunanidhi's bronze statue at the Omandurar Government Estate. He said Karunanidhi is an iconic leader who put people at the centre of all his actions like the farmer's market and health insurance.

"A multifaceted personality, Karunanidhi made his mark in every field he was in, whether as a movie play writer, orator, administrator, leader, poet, writer," said Naidu. He recounted that it was Karunanidhi who created a new trend in movie dialogues of the Tamil industry. The VP also said he was attracted to the late leader's oration in his student days.

Addressing the rift over giving more importance to Hindi, he said there is nothing wrong with learning another language but mother tongue comes first. "Mother, Mother Tongue, and Motherland are important."

"There should not be an imposition of any language on the populace and there should also not be any opposition to another language," said the Vice President.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan were also present at the event.
