New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for questioning as a witness in illegal mining case.
The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, who held mining department between 2012 and June 2013, will be quizzed tomorrow, NDTV reported citing sources in the agency.
Incidents of illegal mining reportedly had taken place in the state’s seven districts including Shamli, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Deoria, Saharanpur, Hamirpur and Siddharthnagar.
The government officials allegedly flouted rules and regulations in allocating illegal mining sites between the year 2012 and 2016, alongside violating NGT orders, according to the report.
