Cabinet expansion:Rajasthan Congress chief Dotasra called emergency meeting of 25 MLAs

Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra called an emergency  meeting of 25 MLAs on Sunday morning to discuss the state's cabinet expansion.

The state cabinet currently has 21 members in the council of ministers and has nine slots vacant.

At the meeting called today, Sachin Pilot and his group of MLAs demanded that they be accommodated in the government.

General Secretary in charge for Rajasthan, Ajay Maken told ANI that the party is discussing cabinet expansion, the appointment of the district and block-level chiefs of Congress, and appointments in boards and corporations.

KC Venugopal, general secretary (organisation), and Ajay Maken, general secretary in charge for Rajasthan, arrived in Jaipur on Saturday and met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot have been involved in a standoff. Sachin Pilot and 18 MLAs rebelled against Mr. Gehlot last year. Congress had settled a similar tension in Punjab, between Amarinder Singh and Navjot Sidhu, reported NDTV.

Sachin Pilot, earlier this week, indicated that the party will take steps to address the issues raised by him. He added that he is in touch with the party high command. The demand for cabinet expansion and political appointments gained momentum after MLAs supporting Pilot said that the party should fulfil promises.
