New Delhi: A person got arrested in connection with the attack on two businessmen, who got shot and seriously injured in full view of the public. The arrestee supplied the two-wheeler used in the crime for the assailants, IANS reported citing the police's account.
The incident occurred on Saturday night in the Subhash Nagar area of west Delhi, while the arrest was made on Sunday. The accused was identified as Raju Khan, alias Googa.
In an acquired CCTV footage, a group of armed assailants were seen opening fire on their targets in full public view. The businessmen, identified as Ajay Chaudhary and Jassa Chaudhary, suffered gun wounds and were taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. Doctors informed that the victims are on treatment and their condition is critical.
Police informed that prima facie, the attack seems to be a case of personal rivalry. "The victims were going somewhere when they were attacked by a group of people in Subhash Nagar. One of the attackers was riding a scooter. Around nine to ten rounds were fired," the police said.
Police said an attempt to murder case, added with sections of the Arms Act, has been lodged with the local police station. Multiple police teams have been employed to probe the matter, and statements of the victims were being recorded. A source said that the attackers had been identified, and police hope to arrest more people in connection with the case.
