Bombay HC directs NTA to release NEET-UG result of student after CBI clears him

The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to release the NEET-UG result of a Chandrapur student after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) found no evidence of wrongdoing against him.

Atharva Donadkar appeared for the NEET-UG examination on May 3 and the re-test on June 21. His result was withheld after the CBI raided his residence on May 15 as part of its investigation into the NEET paper leak case.

During the raid, the CBI seized study material and a question paper bearing a different roll number from Atharva’s residence. Based on inputs from the investigating agency, the NTA issued a show-cause notice to him on July 15.

Atharva responded on July 17, stating that the seized material consisted of mock practice papers provided by his coaching institute and were not leaked examination papers.

With his result still withheld, Atharva missed the first centralised admission round conducted by the state and subsequently approached the High Court.

A division bench comprising Justices Anil Kilor and Rajnish Vyas directed the NTA to declare his result after the CBI confirmed that its investigation had found no evidence linking the student to any wrongdoing.
