Kolkata: An explosion at a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader's home in East Medinipur, West Bengal, has left at least three persons dead.
Around 11.15 p.m. on Friday, there was a reported explosion at the home of the Trinamool Congress booth president in Naryabila village. The explosion caused damage to the house as well, according to officials.
"The cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained and further investigation is underway but the impact was so powerful that the mud house with a thatched roof was blown off in the incident," a senior police officer said, according to news agency PTI.
The BJP claims that the Trinamool leader's residence was producing homemade bombs. Dilip Ghosh, national vice president of the BJP, responded to the development by claiming that "only the bomb-making industry is flourishing in the state."
Sujan Chakraborty, a senior member of the CPI (M), questioned Mamata Banerjee's silence about these incidents and requested a statement from her.
In West Bengal, the opposition finds it quite simple to accuse the government without providing any proof, according to TMC state general secretary Kunal Ghosh.
