Patna: Anticipating a win in the Bihar Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ordered 501 kg of laddoos ahead of the counting of votes scheduled for Friday.
Polling in the two-phase elections was held on November 6 and 11, with the results set to be declared on November 14. The state recorded its highest-ever voter turnout of 66.91 per cent since 1951.
Encouraged by exit poll predictions indicating a clear mandate for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the BJP appears to be in a celebratory mood.
BJP worker Krishna Kumar Kallu told PTI, “On the counting day, the NDA will celebrate Holi, Dussehra, Diwali, and Eid together because people have voted in favour of the NDA’s development works.” He added that the party has ordered 501 kg of laddoos to be distributed as prasad among the people.
A laddoo maker in Patna confirmed that BJP workers had placed the order for 501 kg of the traditional sweet, which is to be delivered on the morning of November 14.
Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav dismissed the exit poll predictions, alleging that such forecasts were made at the “direction” of the BJP’s top leadership.
