BJP MP Subramanian Swamy says, hiking fuel price "monumental exploitation"

New Delhi: As the fuel price is inching day by day to register new records, the trend has attracted criticism from the BJP camp itself.

The party's Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has tweeted his reservations over the illogical surge of the fuel price.

The vocal right-wing leader said that petrol price at Rs. 90 per litre was a monumental exploitation by GoI of the people of India. Citing that ex-refinery price of petrol is Rs. 30 per litre, he said that taxes and commission for the petrol pumps add up the remainder Rs. 60.

"In my view petrol must sell at maximum Rs. 40 per litre," the tweet said.

On Sunday, the fuel rates crossed Rs 90-mark for petrol and Rs 80 in case of diesel in Mumbai.

Rates are now at the highest level since September 2018.

In 17 days, the petrol price has gone up by Rs 2.35 per litre and diesel rate has risen by Rs 3.15.
