BJP forms 24-member election committee for upcoming polls in UP

The BJP has formed a 24-member election committee in Uttar Pradesh to prepare for the upcoming assembly polls scheduled to be held in February-March this year. The committee includes the following: 

  • Uttar Pradesh BJP president Swatantradev Singh
  • State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
  • State Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya
  • State Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma
  • Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan
  • Union minister SP Singh Baghel
  • Union minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti
  • Party national vice president Baby Rani Maurya
  • Party national vice president Rekha Verma
  • National general secretary Arun Singh
  • National secretary Vinod Sonkar
  • State general secretary (organisation) Sunil Bansal
  • Joint general secretary (organisation) Karmvir Singh
  • Son of former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh
  • Lok Sabha member Rajveer Singh

Uttar Pradesh BJP in-charge Radha Mohan Singh, co-incharges Sunil Oza, Y Satya Kumar and Sanjeev Chaurasiya are also members of the election committee as special invitees. Other senior leaders of state and members of state cabinet are also part of the committee. 

The much-anticipated election for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly is important for both the incumbent BJP and the opposition as it would also serve as a precedent for the 2021 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP has organised 'Jan Vishwas Yatras' to reach out to the public that covers all the 403 Assembly constituencies. The saffron party has also planned a community outreach programme to pacify Brahmins and youth conferences in all districts to reach out to the youth. Several programmes have also been planned to strengthen its booth management.
