Kochi: A BJP conspiracy has been revealed pertaining to the sedition charges against Aisha Sultana, a filmmaker from Lakshadweep, who has been actively engaged in TV channel debates and discussions against the anti-people policies of the new administrator. The conversations between Lakshadweep BJP Vice President KP Muthukoya and National Vice President AP Abdullakutty reveal the charges' political motive.
Muthukoya stated that Ayesha's statements are a god-given chance that must not be let away while adding that it could be exploited, for she has no links to the island's culture. Abdullakutty, meanwhile, retorted that the issue must be taken up as necessary and would surely make headlines. After this conversation, the Kavarathy police took up the complaint filed by Lakshadweep BJP President C Abdul Khader Haji. Meanwhile, Abdullakutty has maintained that there is nothing unnatural about the conversation between him and other party workers.
In Kerala, the BJP is campaigning that Aisha's criticisms are for the 'Save Lakshadweep' forum. However, BJP's Lakshadweep chapter is also part of the same forum. The Sangh Parivar had earlier come up with strong accusations against Sulthana on social media. However, the new complaint and charges are based on a snippet of her criticism on a MediaOne news channel debate, taken out of context.
Meanwhile, several BJP leaders from the island, including Chethalath island President Aamina, Executive members Abdul Hameed, Noushad Palllichapura, Mullakoya, and Ummukhulsu, have resigned in protest against the BJP's actions. The resignation letter has been forwarded to the state president and is against the party's move of slamming sedition charges on dissenting voices.
Bitra island BJP President Hameed Kaakayilla has informed his willingness to resign and added that the case against Sulthana was not internally discussed or decided. He further questioned what actions were taken by the party against the administrator for harming the public. Several leaders had resigned earlier on against the administrator's policies.
