Bengaluru man answering official calls at Pooja festival triggers debate on work culture

Bengaluru: A man in the city was seen answering work calls at a Durga Puja pandal giving rise to conversations about work-life balance, NDTV reported.

The video shared on platform X quickly struck a chord with many who know about the hectic work culture that a large number of workers live every single day here.

The man was seen engaged in tasks switching between his phone and laptop throughout the celebration.

He was not apparently enjoying the festivities happening around him nevertheless being physically present there.

The caption to the viral post said a man was caught attending client meeting during the peak Bengaluru moment, adding that ‘The incident perfectly encapsulates the city's fast-paced work culture’.

Many online called for stop “normalizing this behavior as just another ‘peak Bengaluru moment”.

However, another user of the social media platform said that the man was neither dedicated to the work nor into his personal life, adding that ‘we don’t want to have such a culture’.

A third user called the situation ‘really depressing’, and urged for bringing in ‘better work culture in India’.

The user also said if such people ended up in management positions they would expect ‘ such nonsense from others’ and it would lead to seeing ‘ hundreds of laptops on such important occasions’.

One user warned the man to ‘stop this nonsense’ in order not to get laid off and urged him to maintain ‘separate personal and professional time’.
