Batting for Jagan, Owaisi declares he will maintain Muslim quota in AP

Hyderabad: Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of AIMIM, expressed confidence that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, would uphold Muslim reservations in the state if the YSRCP wins the next elections.

Owaisi further declared that the people of Andhra Pradesh would punish N Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the TDP, and Pawan Kalyan, the leader of the Jana Sena, for their alliance with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

According to Owaisi, the quota granted to the Muslim minority in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, was determined by socioeconomic factors rather than religious beliefs,  Siasat.com reported.

On Wednesday, May 1, the AIMIM chief made the comments during an election rally in Goshamahal.

The four-time parliamentarian questioned Naidu about Modi's position on Muslim reservations, expressing hope that Jagan Mohan Reddy will win Andhra Pradesh, maintain Muslim reservations, and protect the Indian Constitution.

The AIMIM MP charged that the BJP wanted to change the Constitution by getting rid of Articles 29 and 30, which protect the rights of linguistic, religious, and cultural minorities in India.

He emphasised that these regulations allow people from various states, such as Tamil Nadu, to open institutions in areas like Hyderabad where minorities live. But he claims that Amit Shah and Modi want to remove these provisions.
