Army chopper crashes in Arunachal's Upper Siang, five people on board

New Delhi: A video showed smoke rising up from a woody valley in Arunachal Pradesh's Siang district after an army helicopter crashed here on Friday.

Meanwhile, Defence PRO reportedly said that a military chopper crashed near Singging village, 25 kms away from the Tuting headquarters in the Upper Siang district today.

Sources say that five people including two pilots were onboard when the Advanced Light Helicopter plunged into, what looked from the aerial view, a forest, as per a report in India Today.

The HAL Rudra, manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), took off from Likabali town in the morning before crashing near Singging Village.

A rescue team has been sent to the location which is inaccessible as there are no motorable roads to the crash site.

Helicopters have been deployed to helm the rescue operations along with the help of local villagers.

Rudra is the Weapon System Integrated (WSI) Mk-IV variant of the Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH).
