Anticipatory bail plea of former minister rejected by Madras HC

A bench of Justice Abdul Quddhose of the Madras High Court on Wednesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of former Tamil Nadu Minister Manikandan pertaining to a sexual harassment case filed by a Malaysia-based woman. The woman complained that the AIADMK leader had sexually harassed her on promises of marrying her.

John Sathyan, the former minister's counsel, argued that there is no truth in the allegations raised by the complainant. He further alleged that the complainant, who claims to be an actor, had filed a sexual harassment complaint after her extortion attempts failed.

However, the complainant's counsel said that Manikandan entered into a sexual relationship with the woman on marriage promises, and the consent couldn't be deemed consent as the promise is not honoured.

However, Manikandan's counsel informed that they would move the division bench.
