Another NEET student dies by suicide in Kota, 26th this year

New Delhi: A student who was preparing for NEET exam allegedly died by suicide in Rajasthan’s Kota on Wednesday, NDTV reported.

The student, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, has become the 26th NEET aspirant to die so over the past several months.

Lakhs of students get trained in Kota, Rajasthan to take entrance exams for medical and engineering studies every year.

Kota, sitting 240 km south of the state capital Jaipur, is known to be the coaching hub for these exams.

However, an alarming number of suicides among students preparing for entrance exams have been reported over the past several years.

Students are known to be undergoing severe pressure from studies compounded by fear of failure.

Coaching institutions are reportedly arranging wardens and mess workers to report on students with signs of depression and stress.

The district administration has asked coaching institutes to stop routine tests for NEET and other exams for two months.
