New Delhi: Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said his party will communicate to the Election Commission about the complaints it had received over the counting process in Haryana, NDTV reported.
Rahul Gandhi made his first reaction to mixed results in two assembly polls saying that the party is analyzing ‘unexpected results’ in Haryana poll.
In a post online, he said that the party will inform ‘The Election Commission about the complaints coming from many assembly constituencies’.
Calling the performance in Jammu and Kashmir 'victory of democratic self-respect', he said that the party would go on fighting for people's rights and social and economic justice.
Rahul Gandhi’ remarks followed his party’s unexpected failure in Haryana where exit polls predicted the party retuning to power after ten years.
The Congress workers started celebrating when the early trends showed the party leading in polls.
But the BJP began to emerge outwitting the Congress, ensuring a third term in the state winning 48 seats. The Congress ended up with 37 seats.
Following the results, the Congress questioned the counting process saying that it would not accept the results, with a senior leader saying that results were against ground reality.
The leader claimed to have received ‘very serious complaints’ against counting and voting machines in three districts.
However, the Election Commission dismissed the Congress’ allegation of slowdown in updating of results in Haryana.
