Amit Shah is unaware of history: Rahul Gandhi reacts to Nehru criticism

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said Home Minister Amit Shah cannot be expected to know history, adding that ‘he has the habit of rewriting it’, according to NDTV.

Rahul Gandhi was taking on Shah a day after the minister blamed the first prime minister of India for ‘Kashmir problem’ pinning on what he said Nehru’s ‘two major blunders’.

Following the Supreme Court verdict on Article 370 on Monday, Shah snatched the opportunity to take on the Congress attacking the former Prime Minister.

Rahul Gandhi responded to Shah saying ‘Pandit Nehru gave his life for India, he was in jail for years. Amit Shah is unaware of history. I cannot expect him to know history, he has the habit of rewriting it.’

Shah pointed out that ceasefire during war with Pakistan and taking the Kashmir issue to the United Nations were the ‘two major blunders’ of Nehru administration.

‘If there was no untimely ceasefire there wouldn't have been a PoK. Our country was winning, had he (Nehru) waited for two days, entire Kashmir would have been ours,’ he was quoted as saying.

Attacking the former Prime Minister, Shah said: ‘People say if not for Nehru, there would have been no Kashmir. People who know history, I want to ask them, Hyderabad faced a bigger problem, did Nehru go there? Did Nehru go to Lakshadweep, Junagarh or Jodhpur? He only used to go to Kashmir and even there he left the job unfinished’

The court order, he said, vindicated the government’s abrogation of the Article 370 and splitting of Jammu and Kashmir four years ago.
