New Delhi: The no-confidence motion, introduced by the I.N.D.I.A alliance against the Modi government was defeated in the Lok Sabha through a voice vote on Thursday, amid a walkout by the opposition.
In response to the violence in Manipur, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, a member of the opposition I.N.D.I.A. bloc, introduced the no-confidence motion last week, NIE reported.
The opposition's proposal was approved by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla last week, and the discussion on the motion was scheduled to take place from August 8 to August 10.
A no-confidence motion has been brought against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the second time.
The first such resolution against the Modi administration was presented in 2018 against the awarding of Andhra Pradesh special category status, although it was ultimately defeated.
