Amid opposition protest over no-confidence motion against Dhankhar, RS adjourned for a day

New Delhi: Following a commotion by opposition parties over a vote of no-confidence calling for the removal of Vice President and House Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day.

As the session began, opposition members raised slogans and disrupted procedures, asking that the motion be discussed, TNIE reported.

Chairman Dhankhar adjourned the House until 12 pm and then later for the day due to the growing clamour as he tried to move forward with the listed agenda.

The INDIA opposition bloc filed a notice in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday seeking the dismissal of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, alleging him of 'partisan' conduct as Chairman of the Upper House.

The notice, signed by 60 opposition MPs from parties including the Congress, RJD, TMC, CPI, CPI(M), JMM, AAP, DMK, and the Samajwadi Party, was given to Rajya Sabha Secretary-General P.C. Mody by Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Naseer Hussain on behalf of the opposition.
