Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav hit back at BJP's accusation of Yadav's 'family politics' by sharing on Twitter a photo collection of BJP leaders and their relatives in key positions.
The BJP was targeting Akhilesh Yadav ahead of the upcoming bypoll for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat which his late father Mulayam Singh Yadav represented.
Samajwadi Party fielded Akhilesh Yadav's wife and former lawmaker Dimple Yadav as the candidate for the constituency, causing the BJP to bring up the talking point of family politics.
The BJP has picked former Samajwadi Party MP Raghuraj Singh Shakya to represent the constituency.
Akhilesh Yadav's photo collection of the top BJP leaders whose relatives in key positions include BS Yediyurappa, Rajnath Singh, Raman Singh, Kailash Vijayvargiya and several others.
Yadav also made a parting shot in the caption saying "Picture abhi baki hai (The picture is not over yet)"
Responding to the dynasty charge, Yadav asked why BJP leaders were not questioned about the same, NDTV reported.
Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya earlier said that the people have made up their mind to end dynastic politics.
During a stump speech at a rally in Mainpuri on Monday, Yogi Adityanath said that the Samajwadi Party was full of dynasty.
"The CM is from their family. The party chief is from the family. MPs and MLAs are from their family, even block representatives are from their family," the Chief Minister was quoted as saying.
