New Delhi: Demonstrating its support for the Indian women’s cricket team during the ICC World Cup final on Sunday, Akasa Air lit up the cabins of more than 100 flights in the colours of the national flag. The tricolour-themed lighting reportedly received an enthusiastic response from passengers.
According to an Akasa Air spokesperson, the airline chose the Indian flag’s colours to express solidarity with the Women in Blue and to evoke a sense of national pride and unity as the country cheered for the team.
The initiative, she said, was also intended to make the flying experience more engaging and strengthen the bond with passengers.
The airline, known for its efforts to connect with travellers, had earlier introduced “SkyScore,” a feature launched in 2023 that allows passengers to access live cricket score updates mid-air. The spokesperson noted that the feature continues to keep flyers updated with real-time match information, TNIE reported.
An official statement from the airline said that SkyScore combines two of India’s biggest passions—cricket and travel—while reflecting Akasa Air’s aim to offer a comfortable and connected in-flight experience.
In addition, Akasa Air has released its November SkyScore Cricket Calendar, listing matches that will be available for live score updates during flights, including India’s men’s tours of Australia (November 8–25) and South Africa (November 18–25).
