New Delhi: The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has suspended the membership of Al Falah University, Faridabad, following its alleged links to a terror module connected to the recent Red Fort blast, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The AIU, a registered society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, serves as a platform for university administrators and academics to deliberate on issues of mutual concern. According to Secretary General Pankaj Mittal, the suspension was enforced under the organisation’s bye-laws, which require member institutions to remain in “good standing”.
“However, it has come to notice that Al Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana, does not appear to be in good standing. Accordingly, the membership of AIU was accorded to Al Falah University, Faridabad, Haryana, stands suspended with immediate effect,” Mittal stated.
She further clarified that the university is no longer authorised to use the AIU’s name or logo in any of its activities and must remove the logo from its official website.
Al Falah University, located in Dhauj village, Faridabad, came under scrutiny after the unearthing of an alleged “white collar” terror module. The private institution, which also operates a hospital on its campus, has been linked to the ongoing investigation into the high-intensity car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday.
The explosion, which killed 13 people and injured several others, occurred just hours after the arrest of eight individuals, including three doctors reportedly associated with Al Falah University. The arrests followed the busting of the suspected terror module.
