Muzaffarnagar: An 85-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar willed his property worth ₹ 1.5 crore to the Uttar Pradesh government.
Nathu Singh, who is upset after being abandoned by his children, also donated his body to a medical college, NDTV reported.
The octogenarian reportedly said his son and daughters should not attend his funeral.
Nathu Singh, who owns a house and land worth ₹ 1.5 crore, has a son living away in Saharanpur working as a school teacher and his four daughters are all married off.
Nathu Singh has been alone since his wife's death and moved to an old-age home in the village about seven months ago.
As none of his children come to visit him, the grand old man is heartbroken.
Grumbling from frustration, he willed his land to the state government.
He wanted the government to build a hospital or school on his property after his death.
‘At this age, I should have lived with my son and daughter-in-law but they did not treat me well. That is why I made up my mind to transfer the property,’ The Times of India quoted him as saying.
The manager of the old-age home, Rekha Singh, said no one has visited Nathu Singh since he started staying there.
Rekha Singh reportedly said the old man is adamant on handing over the property to the state.
The sub-registrar of the area admitted to have received Singh's affidavit and will act on the will after Singh's death.
